Fat Possum released his record, What's Wrong With You, in 2000. Belfour plays delta blues on acoustic guitar. This is one of the coolest records ever. This is really north Mississippi blues rather than actual delta, but its what I call delta blues. The stuff I look for is really the best blues and the best rock and roll. It's hypnotic, trance-inducing, with strong rhythmic repetitious riffs. Groovin' and rockin' sometimes with just one or two chords. One man, one guitar, and nothing else. (Not to be misleading, of the nine songs on the record, two seem to be on electric guitar and two of the others have a drummer). The only other record of acoustic delta blues I like as much as this is R.L. Burnside's acoustic stuff on Arhoolie.
