There's tons of cool Brazilian pop music. Its all sung in Portuguese, which is really beautiful. Brazil mixes all kinds of cultures together and you can hear this in the music. I don't know a lot of this music but there are some really cool records that David Byrne has put out on his Luaka Bop label. The first one came out in 1989 and is called Beleza Tropical - Brazil Classics 1. This would probably be the first record to get as a really good introduction to Brazilian music. This compilation features major Brazilian pop music of the 70's and 80's. In 1999, he put out a second compilation called Beleza Tropical 2. This one features Brazilian pop music from the 90's. There's a bunch of other Brazilian and South American Music on Luaka Bop. And there's tons more on other labels. A good record store will have lots of Brazilian music in the international section.
