The king of surf guitar. His early stuff from the sixties can be found on several CD compliations. He started touring and making records again in the 90's, releasing Tribal Thunder, Unknown Territory, and Calling Up Spirits. Rhino has issued a 2-CD anthology, Better Shred Than Dead, with plenty of stuff from both his old and new records (and a big fat booklet). I got to see him a few years ago at VZD's in OKC. He wears out picks every few minutes and plays on very heavy strings ("I don't play no pussy strings!", as he put it). He is a VERY powerful guitar player. Blantantly egotisical (hey, his followers are "Dickheads"), but he has plenty to be proud of. Dude, he shreds!!
