Micky Hart was one of the two drummers in the Grateful Dead. In 1990 and 1991, he put out a couple of records featuring an assortment of persussion instruments from around the world - At the Edge and Planet Drum. Recently, he put out a new one, Supralingua, which continues along the same line and gets a little more techno. Some copies of this CD include a bonus CD with remixes of 4 songs by various DJs. He has written an excellent book on drumming called Drumming at the Edge of Magic, A Journey into the Spirit of Drumming and another book Planet Drum, which has hundreds of pictures of percussion instruments from around the world. He has been actively promoting world music for the last ten years, producing a series of recordings called "The World" on Rykodisc.
