Los Lobos is five guys who grew up together in East L.A.: David Hidalgo, Cesar Rosas, Conrad Lozano, Louie Perez, and Steve Berlin. All of their records are excellent and critically acclaimed, though they do not usually sell in gigantic amounts. They mix together blues, rock and roll, soul and Mexican music in continously creative ways, getting more and more experimental as they go. They seem to stay very busy with lots of interesting side projects going on. These guys are very special - to me they seem holy. They are one of the all-time greatest American rock and roll bands.
Their new record, This Time, is great - I've been playing it over and over. It is complex and experimental, as expected, but also seems to be a return to basics with lots of infectious rock and roll dance music.
