Rhino Records has an excellent series of compilations of country music called Heroes of Country Music. These records are a good way to get introduced to lots of classic country music. Volume 1 is Legends of Country Swing, Volume 2 is Legends of Honky Tonk, Volume 3 is Legends of Nashville, Volume 4 is Legends of The West Coast, Volume 5 is Legends of Country Rock (which seems a littel out of place in the series). I especially like and recommend Volume 2 and Volume 3.
